Mother Bhagwati is worshiped for full 9 days during Shardiya Navratri. People worship girls on Ashtami and Navami Tithi of Navratri. It is also called Kanjak Puja.
Mother Mahagauri is worshiped on Ashtami Tithi of Navratri and Mother Siddhidatri is worshiped on Navami. Therefore, it is auspicious to worship girls during these days.
Some people worship girls on Ashtami of Navratri and some even on Navami Tithi. But according to the calendar, this year Ashtami and Navami Tithi are falling on the same day. Therefore, Kanya Puja will also be done not on two days but on a single day.
Actually, Ashtami Tithi will start from 12:31 pm on 10th October and will continue till 12:31 pm on the next day i.e. 11th October. Navami Tithi will start after Ashtami Tithi ends in the afternoon itself. In such a situation, both Ashtami and Navami will be on 11th October only.
Due to Udayatithi being valid, Kanya Puja will also be done on Friday, 11 October 2024, because on this day both Ashtami and Navami will be observed. You can also do Kanya Puja on this day.
During Kanya Puja, feed Puri, gram, halwa and coconut to the girls. Then give as per your capacity. Before bidding farewell to the girls, touch their feet and sprinkle some grains of Akshat in your house with their hands.
There is a religious belief that by worshiping small girls during Navratri, Goddess Durga is pleased and one gets her special blessings. By worshiping Kanya, happiness and prosperity always resides in the house.
